Course Project Update - May 24, 2019
Following is an update on cart path repairs and installation of new cart paths.
LaBar saw cuts any damaged areas and removes the broken portion of cart path. The area is cleaned up before the forms are installed. |
Our concrete contractor, J. R. Barger and Sons, creates the forms using 1x4 boards to secure the edges near the soil. The forms remain in place for about two days after concrete is poured. |
Concrete is poured and worked into the form to a depth of four inches and then leveled. |
A worker uses a bull float to smooth the surface. |
Finishers form the curbs by hand and ease edges around the forms. |
The finisher forms the controlled joint in the wet concrete using a special trowel. Workers then use a special tool to brush the surface. The rough surface aids with traction when wet. |
The GMC Team removes the forms and clears any concrete debris from around the freshly poured path. La Bar then prepares the areas for sod. |
Finished cart path with freshly laid sod. The GMC Team hand waters the sod until the roots are fully established into the soil. |
