Course Project Update - Tee Construction - November 20, 2018

With our third snow of the season now behind us, the work continues this week including on Thanksgiving Day.  Bunker construction is now complete.  We have only a few bunkers left to spray with the Better Billy Bunker polymer.  LaBar will continue to fill each bunker with sand before we have to wrap up the project for the winter season.

Tee construction is looking great.  Construction is complete on Holes #3 and #9.  LaBar is now working on finishing up Holes #12, #14 and #16.  Following is an overview of the process of building a tee.

Initially, Keith Foster marks the area to begin constructing the tee.  LaBar uses grading equipment to adjust the surrounding areas, then the actual teeing surface is sculpted.  Keith Foster reviews the work and makes any adjustments as needed.  LaBar continues to sculpt and level the tee for final approval.  Once Keith Foster approves the tee, drainage is installed.  LaBar uses equipment to dig the drainage lines.  LaBar workers fine tune the grade using shovels and a laser level to ensure proper slope so water will exit in the correct direction.  Gravel is installed, then drainage pipe, tracking wire, and more gravel, just like a green.  The entire surface is covered with tee mix to a depth of six inches.  The tee and surrounding area is then sodded.
